For Debbie, Bollywood dance is FUN, sometimes wacky, sometimes sappy, sometimes an intimidating challenge, but
always fun in the end. She feels close to those with whom she dances, like an eclectic family, each having
their own level of ability and everyone being supportive. Bollywood movies affect a wide array of moods in one 3
hour show on the audience. Bollywood dancing can provide that vast span of moods, to those that have seen the
movies, or even to an audience that is new to it.
Boom Boom Bollywood FAQ What is your Sun Sign? Leo Which Bollywood star do you strive to emulate in your dance/character/style? Madhuri Dixit!!! and... Sarina Jain (not a bollywood star, but a Bhangra goddess to me) Which Bollywood star is your heart-throb? Hrithik Roshan What is your dance/theatre background? I had no dance background other than high school dances/drama club, club or bar free style dancing... to whatever the music moved my body to do. I started taking structured dance classes at Domba after seeing them perform at the AZ Renaissance Festival in 2002. I was totally mesmerized and inspired by the way they moved their bodies. I have taken instruction from Heidi of Domba (Tribal style Bellydance - Beg/Int and Tribal Skirt), Haven of Domba (Int/Adv Tribal Candle and Skirt, Ellisha of Domba (Tribal Sword), and Samantha of Domba/Boom Boom Bollywood (Beg Tribal, Tribal Folk Style, Tribal Indian Basic, Bollywood Tribal, Choreography and Formations), Kami Liddle (NV) (Bhangra). Performances have been limited to Studio class performances/Anniversary events involving classes and finally Bollywood performances... Tell us something strange or quirky about yourself... I have 2 left feet and two right feet at times. I can be dyslexic when it comes to turns and moves -- I unconsciously turn the wrong way at least once during a performance. I love to laugh and make people laugh with not so subtle one-liners. I love to nurture people. |
